This month, all our stories reveal how Jesus is both God and man. This is known as the hypostatic union. All of our passages this month reveal how Jesus is both fully God and fully man. In the story of boy Jesus from Luke 2:41-52, we see Jesus as a human child, growing up with His family and learning about God. But His wisdom and understanding in the temple amaze everyone, showing that He is also God. In Matthew 4:1-17, Jesus faces temptations just like any human would, but He resists them and teaches us to worship God alone, proving His divine strength and authority. When Nicodemus meets Jesus in John 3:1-21, Jesus explains that to have eternal life, we must believe in Him. This shows His divinity, offering salvation and God’s love through Himself as God’s Son. Finally, in Mark 2:1-12, Jesus forgives sins and heals a paralyzed man, demonstrating His divine power and authority while also showing His compassion and care as a fully human friend to all. These stories help us understand that Jesus is both like us and also able to save us as a full member of the Godhead.
